- NEW COMMUNITY FOR RESTAURANT AND FOOD SERVICE
HOUSTON — (Aug. 8, 2008) — The International Facility Management Association is pleased to announce the formation of the Restaurant and Food Service Facility Managers Community, a new community of practice for those who manage facilities in the restaurant and food service industries. IFMA’s communities of practice are organized special interest groups that unite members of specific industries not represented by IFMA councils. The new community will provide a network for restaurant and food service professionals to connect with one another, share resources and take advantage of continuing education opportunities.
“As more facility managers are being asked to manage outsourced food service, this community will provide them with a network to benchmark best practices and share experiences among their peers,” said Matt Mundok of Innovative Hospitality Solutions. “The community will be a link between facility managers and food service industry leaders and will enhance the knowledge of those responsible for managing food service relationships and programs.”
The new community will hold a kickoff webinar entitled “An Introduction to Sustainability in Food Service” presented by Christopher P. Hodges, P.E., CFM, IFMA Fellow, of Facility Engineering Associates, at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Hodges will discuss the basic elements of sustainable food service; the importance of strategy, implementation, measurement and monitoring; and several examples of successful sustainable food service programs.
To learn more about joining the Restaurant and Food Service Facility Managers Community or to participate in the webinar, contact Kari Stein, IFMA council development specialist, at 713-623-4362 or kari.stein@ifma.org.
