McGinnis Education Center at Camp Guyasuta

Situated on 165 acres of wilderness just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, The McGinnis Education Center is a meeting and conference facility used by corporate, religious and non-profit groups of all types. Completed in 2005, it is currently under review for a LEED Gold Rating. Join us for a tour of the building and the adjacent Rohr Family Challenge Center and Liken Nature Trail.

Please join us for this fun and casual evening. Following the tour, we will feast on an old-fashioned barbecue. Hope to see you there!

Mike Daniher, Greater Pittsburgh Council, Boy Scouts of America:
Mike has been employed by the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years; the past 6 years as Ranger at Camp Guyasuta. He is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow, National Camp School certified as a Camp Ranger, COPE and Climbing Instructor as well as being certified by the National Swimming Pool Institute as a Certified Pool Inspector. Mike is also certified by the Dept. of Agriculture as an Amusement Ride inspector and Pesticide Applicator.

Gary P. Moshier AIA, IFMA, Moshier Studio:
Gary is a partner of Moshier Studio, a Pittsburgh, PA firm which designs high performance sustainable environments for institutions, businesses and government, and provides green building consulting services. He has been involved with green building activities for over 10 years and currently serves on the Board of the Green Building Alliance, Pittsburgh’s USGBC Affiliate.

Scott Bulera, Turner Construction:
Scott is the Manager of Business Development with Turner Construction Company. He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Scott is an Associate Member of the AIA, a member of NAIOP and the AGC (Association of General Contractors); he is currently the Vice President of Marketing/Communications for the Pittsburgh Chapter of IFMA.

Camp Guyasuta is approximately 6 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh, at the north end of the Highland Park Bridge

VIA ROUTE 28 (north or south bound):
Take the Highland Park Bridge Exit form Route 28. Before crossing the bridge, take the first exit to the right marked “Sharpsburg”. Stay right on the ramp and turn right onto Main Street Proceed over the rail overpass. 23rd Street is the first street on the right, directly across from Ryan’s Auto Glass. Turn right onto 23rd St. There are several Camp Guyasuta arrows on the poles at this intersection. Follow 23rd Street across the railroad tracks and as it bends to the right. As you parallel the highway, you will see the Camp Guyasuta sign at the highway underpass. Turn left under the highway and into the camp. The McGinnis Education Center is directly in front of you, but follow the road to the right, across the bridge and park in the lot at the bend in the road. If this lot is full, proceed up the road past the ranger’s house, the canoes, and another building to the upper lot. Cross any of the foot bridges and take the trail back to McGinnis.

VIA THE HIGHLAND PARK BRIDGE:
As you cross the bridge form the city, get/stay in the right lane. Take the second exit at the end of the bridge. It is marked “Sharpsburg”. Stay right on the ramp and turn right onto Freeport Road. Get into the left lane as you go under the bridge and go straight onto Main Street. Proceed over the rail overpass. 23rd Street is the first street on the right, directly across from Ryan’s Auto Glass.
